Terms of Service
Last updated: July 16, 2026
Who we are
StageWhisper is operated by Epochal, based in Warsaw, Poland. These terms are an agreement between you and Epochal covering the stagewhisper.io website and the StageWhisper desktop applications. By using the website or installing the app, you accept them. Questions: email piotr.m@stagewhisper.io.
What StageWhisper is
StageWhisper is desktop software for macOS that transcribes and analyzes your calls on your machine. It comes in a free edition (StageWhisper Lite), a paid Founders Edition bought once, and subscription plans where offered. Some features connect to an AI assistant or model that you bring and configure yourself.
Your license
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the app. A paid license covers one person; it is not a floating seat and may not be resold or shared. You may not redistribute license keys, rent out the software, or reverse engineer it except where the law expressly permits.
StageWhisper Lite is source-available: its source code is published in a public repository under a fair-source license. For the published source code, the license in that repository governs.
Recording laws are your responsibility
StageWhisper processes live conversation audio on your device. Laws on recording and monitoring conversations differ by country and, in some places, require the consent of everyone on the call. You are responsible for using the app lawfully in your jurisdiction, for complying with the terms of the meeting platforms you use, and for informing participants where the law requires it.
Your AI, your providers
When you connect your own AI assistant or run a local model, the output comes from that AI, not from us. Transcripts, summaries, and suggestions can be wrong or incomplete. Use your own judgment before acting on them; they are not professional, legal, medical, or financial advice. Your relationship with any third-party AI provider is governed by that provider's own terms.
Purchases and refunds
Payments are processed by Stripe. Prices, currency, and any applicable taxes are shown at checkout. One-time purchases include the features listed for that edition at the time of purchase; we may add to them, and anything described as a future addition is not a promise of delivery dates.
If you are a consumer in the EU or UK, you have a statutory 14-day right of withdrawal on digital purchases. Beyond that, if the Founders Edition is not what you expected, email us within 30 days of purchase and we will refund you.
Subscription plans, where offered, renew each billing cycle. You can cancel any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current cycle.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use StageWhisper to break the law, including surveillance without consent
- Probe, disrupt, or overload our services or other users
- Resell, sublicense, or share access to paid features
- Misrepresent StageWhisper output as a verbatim record where accuracy matters
Intellectual property
We keep all rights to the software, the StageWhisper name, and the website content, except for source code released under its own published license. Your transcripts and notes are yours. If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them without obligation to you.
Privacy
How we handle data is described in the Privacy Policy. In short: transcription happens on your device, we do not store your conversations on our servers, and website analytics are EU-hosted.
Warranty disclaimer
The software and the website are provided as is. We do not warrant that transcripts or AI-generated content are accurate, that the app fits a particular purpose, or that the service is uninterrupted. Nothing in these terms limits warranties or remedies that consumer law grants you and that cannot be waived.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, our total liability for claims arising from these terms or your use of StageWhisper is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect damages such as lost profits, lost deals, or lost data. These limits do not apply where liability cannot be limited by law, including liability for intent or gross negligence.
Termination
You can stop using StageWhisper at any time. We may suspend or terminate access, or revoke a license, if you materially breach these terms. The sections on intellectual property, disclaimers, and limitation of liability remain in force after termination.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the product evolves. Material changes will be noted on this page with an updated revision date. Continuing to use StageWhisper after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by Polish law. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of protections granted by the mandatory laws of the country you live in, and you may bring disputes before your local courts where the law provides for it.
